Dar sees economic ‘take-off’ LAHORE: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says Pakistan is making progress on economic front and has reached the take-off stage.
“Pakistan is moving in the right direction under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif,” Mr Dar said.
Speaking to reporters at the ghusal (ceremonial bathing) ceremony of the shrine of Hazrat Ali Hajveri here on Tuesday, he claimed that all economic indicators were positive. He said the negative forces did not want Pakistan to progress.
“We will overcome the obstacles in the way of progress,” he said and added that the menace of terrorism had been overcome to a large extent and it would be eradicated soon. He said the Zarb-i-Azb operation had broken the back of terrorists.
The finance minister further said those having evil designs for the country would not succeed. In the past those involved in the 1971 conspiracy met a tragic end.
“Both Indira Gandi and Sheikh Mujibur Rehman met dreadful end for their role in breaking Pakistan,” he said.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also attended the ceremony but preferred to avoid media talk.
