Govt urged to tackle refugees’ issue NOWSHERA: Chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Maulana Samiul Haq on Wednesday termed the alleged harassment of Afghan refugees as part of international conspiracy to defame Pakistan despite allowing them 35-year prolonged stay and called upon the high-ups to tackle the situation with harmony.
In a statement issued here from Darul Uloom-i-Haqqania, Akora Khattak, Maulana Samiul Haq said that a 21-member Afghan delegation, including representatives of Afghan jihadi forces, met him and discussed the prevailing situation of Afghan refugees in Pakistan.
They expressed deep concern at the situation of Afghan refugees as they had allegedly been teased through different ways.
Samiul Haq termed it an international conspiracy against the great hospitality of Pakistan.
He said that all political parties of Defence Council of Pakistan, of which he is the chairman, supported the stand of Afghan refugees and assured the delegation members that they would try their best to help resolve their problems.
The JUI-S leader said that the way Afghan refugees were arrested for forced repatriation could destroy the hospitality of 35 years.
He said that the services of Afghan refugees would be remembered for a long time as they had defeated Russia. He said that foreign conspirators wanted a new tussle between the Afghan refugees and Pakistan.
The Maulana appealed to the Pakistani authorities to ensure dignified repatriation of refugees to their country. He assured the delegation that he would take up the issue with Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and other relevant officials to solve the refugees’ problems.
