PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan will mount his party’s container in Peshawar on Sunday morning (today) to kick off “day of accountability” march against the federal government.

The vehicular procession will start from the city’s Pir Zakori Sharif Flyover at 10:00am. Mr Khan and senior leaders of the party, including members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet, would lead the march that would culminate at Attock (Punjab).

Imran has urged masses to fully participate in the march. He tweeted on Saturday that: “PTI container will be moving on its Tehreek again tomorrow (Sunday). I invite all Pakistanis to demand Ehtesab from their leaders as it is their right.”

A senior PTI leader Zafar Ullah Khattak told Dawn that all arrangements had been finalised to make the march successful.

He said that MNAs, MPAs and district and tehsil nazims of the party had been asked to bring maximum number of workers to mark the show.

He said that the container which was used in historic Dharna against the government in Islamabad in 2014 had reached Peshawar on Friday. He said that the PTI chairman would sit in the specially designed container to lead the march on the Grand Trunk Road.

“We expect that thousands of workers would join the rally to proceed along with the party chairman up to Attock,” he said.

He said that workers from other districts like Kohat, Karak, Charsadda, Swat and tribal areas would reach Peshawar to participate in the rally. He said that the provincial government’s resources would not be utilised in the rally.

PTI workers from Hazara division will join the rally at Attock. Mr Khan will address the marchers in Pabbi, Nowshera. Chief Minister Pervez Khattak will also take part in the rally.

The PTI chief had announced that the main objective of the march was to mobilise masses against the government.

He had announced to launch a protest movement to exert pressure on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to sign terms of reference with the opposition to start probing Panama Leak papers through an independent commission. The leaked papers contain names of children of Mr Sharif having offshore companies.
