Is John Abraham’s ‘Force 2’ the next film John Abraham-starrer Force 2 is the latest Bollywood film to bear the brunt of Pak-India tensions.
The action thriller, directed by Abhinay Deo, is a sequel to the Force (2011) that follows good cop ACP Yashvardhan (John Abraham) as he chases a deadly gangster. In this sequel, though, the director decided to bring in the element of cross-border terrorism, which hasn’t gone down well with the censor board.
While granting Force 2 ‘UA’ certification, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has also asked for cuts of three scenes related to cross-border terrorism and Pak-India relations.
According to DNA India, John Abraham shared, “Unlike the first Force film, we decided to incorporate a strong political message in Force 2 on cross-border issues. When we were shooting the film, the ghastly Uri tragedy had not happened. Now, some of the events described in the film almost seem to preempt the cross-border activities in the past few months,”
The scenes are vital to the storyline of the film, so producers Viacom 18 and Vipul A Shah have decided to appeal against the cuts to the Revision Committee of the CBFC, “as they feel these cuts will affect the flow of the film.”
The film is slated to release on November 18.
