Nurses to be sent to Turkey for training LAHORE: The Punjab government will send nurses to Turkey for training as part of a programme being launched in collaboration with the Turkish Ministry of Health for upgrading of the healthcare system in the province.
“Nurses will get specialised training in the first phase, while in the second they will get full training,” said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Saturday while presiding over a marathon meeting also attended by a high-level Turkish delegation, headed by Turkey’s Ministry of Health Adviser Hasan Cagil.
Earlier, Mr Cagil assured full cooperation to the Punjab government for betterment of the healthcare system. The meeting agreed to further enhance cooperation between the Punjab government and the Turkish ministry for reforms in healthcare in the province.
The chief minister said that benefit would be extracted from the Turkish model for providing quality healthcare to the people of Punjab.
“Turkey has improved its healthcare system under the leadership of its great leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Punjab government will also ensure provision of quality medical facilities to the citizens by benefiting from skills and expertise of Turkey. Patients will be provided medical facilities, which are their right, through increasing cooperation with Turkey for uplift of healthcare system,” said the chief minister.
The Punjab government had done tremendous work for reforms in the health sector. However, desired results would be achieved only when patients benefit from the system. The Punjab government had decided to outsource some services for eliminating mafia in hospitals.
“There are best doctors, nurses and paramedical staff, but there is a lack of commitment and determination in achieving the desired results. It is time to take steps in the real sense and serve the ailing humanity wholeheartedly,” he added.
The officials of Turkish Ministry of Health extended good wishes to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on behalf of Turkish Minister for Health Tayyip Akhdon. Turkish Consul General Serdar Deniz, provincial ministers Zakiya Shahnawaz, Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Adviser on Health Khawaja Salman, Parliamentary Secretary Imran Nazir, Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan, MPA Dr Nadia Aziz and medical experts attended the meeting.
