Qandeel Baloch killed by brother in Multan MULTAN: In a shocking development, Multan police reported the murder of famed social media sensation Qandeel Baloch.
Qandeel, who is popular for posting bold videos and statements on Facebook, was gunned down by her brother, police said.
Qandeel’s brother had been threatening her over her Facebook posts and videos, said the police.
Baloch, a Kim Kardashian-type figure who has become famous through her tireless self-promotion and suggestive “selfies” posted on social media, had amassed tens of thousands of followers.
Three weeks ago, Qandeel had written to the interior minister, the director general of the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) and the senior superintendent of Islamabad asking them to provide security to her and has requested action against those who made her identification documents public via social media.
She had said her life is in danger and that she is being threatened via calls on her mobile number and that she did not have security measures installed in her home.
She wrote: “I need security from you”.
In the letter which she signed by her real name, Fauzia Azeem, she has said that images of her passport and CNIC were uploaded on social media sites four days ago which, she said, made her “extremely tense and depressive”.
She asked how her documents were collected from the National Database and Registration Authority and the Passports and Immigration Department and has asked about the officials involved in “destroying [her] image in show biz”.
