Rally held for missing Baloch activist KARACHI: A rally was taken out here on Monday to protest against the alleged enforced disappearance of writer and activist Abdul Wahid Baloch by human and civil rights activists in a joint collaboration with the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP).
The rally began from Regal Chowk and ended at the Karachi Press Club. Activists belonging from the Pakistan FisherFolk Forum as well as labour and trade unions, among others, participated in the rally as well. The rally also included the two daughters of the activist, Hani and Maheen Wahid.
A telephone operator at the Civil Hospital, Abdul Wahid was allegedly asked to step down from a local van at the Superhighway toll plaza, where one of the men, dressed in civvies, checked his identity on his phone.
Filing of a petition in the Sindh High Court on Aug 2 and formation of a fact-finding mission by the HRCP on Aug 3 brought the case out in the open.
