Reforms initiatives discuss with World Bank ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar met with World Bank’s Country Director to Pakistan Patchamuthu Illangovan on Saturday and discussed the upcoming reform initiatives of the government.
Mr Dar said the government had successfully implemented its reform agenda during the last three years and the process would continue in the future as well.
The World Bank official congratulated Mr Dar for completing the IMF programme successfully.
“The completion of this programme is a major milestone”, the World Bank official remarked.
Mr Illangovan also discussed the proposed World Bank plan for the overall assistance package to be made available to Pakistan under IDA and development policy credit system for economic growth.
In a separate meeting, the minister was briefed on the current status of financial inflows and outflows, said a press release.
Dar expressed satisfaction on the overall state of foreign financing during the current year, saying Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves were at a comfortable level.
He also reviewed arrangements for the upcoming Saarc Finance Minsters’ Conference to be held in Islamabad on Aug 25-26.
Mr Dar said that all countries in the Saarc region have a lot of potential to develop together.
He said that cooperation is necessary for promoting welfare and the upcoming conference is an important event in that regard.
